What do you do in a country where facts donβt matter?
What do you do in an America where reality is fake and the lie is the reality? What do you do when an authoritarian government insists that they and they alone know the truth? What do you do when people want to believe their own lies so much they lie to themselves?
There are a lot of things you can do. Fact-checking feels futile, but it is a necessary step. Supporting the voices that do tell the truth doesnβt hurt, either.
But also, sometimes the best way to counteract a false narrative is to put on a frog costume, get out in the streets, and dance.
In the face of the presidentβs lies, protesters in Portland have donned inflatable costumes and held dance parties. Itβs hard to manipulate images of a person dancing in a puffy unicorn outfit into something fearsome and scaryβ¦
