My parrot ate my keyboard

Keyboard keycaps on a background of blue parrot feathers.

One of the great joys in life is having pets. The unconditional love, the snuggles, the excitement they show when you get home - these things add an emotional fulfillment to daily existence that can't be achieved in another way. I think everyone's life would be better with a pet (or two) in their lives. It's an incredible experience. Except for those few times when it isn't.

Both my wife and I work from home, and in a two-bedroom Los Angeles apartment with a kid, two dogs, and a bird, we're constantly in close quarters. Kiyo, our Senegal parrot, has the best view of us all with his cage situated at a corner wraparound window in our living r …

CMF’s clip earbuds hit the balance between cheap and good

A hand holding the coral-colored CMF Clip Pro earbuds in their flip-top case.
The Clip Pro are the first clip-style earbuds from CMF, Nothing’s budget sub-brand.

Clip earbuds are an exercise in compromise. It's an inherent aspect of their design - and physics. They can be more comfortable for people that don't like something jammed in their ear, but sound response suffers. Ambient awareness is great because you can easily hear the sound around you, which means to hear your own music the buds need to be turned up and potentially leak sound out to your neighbors. For what they offer, they can also get pricey, with popular pairs from Bose, Sony, and Shokz reaching $200. The CMF Clip Pro, though, are under $100, and while they still have those compromises, they handle them well.

As reported by What Hi-Fi?, an FCC filing by Sonos, Inc reveals details about upcoming wireless headphones with the model number S52A.

In addition to the S52A designation, one of the submitted documents shows an oval diagram - likely the ear cup - marked with the name Sonos Ace Ultra, although that name isn't listed anywhere else. It follows the naming scheme Sonos has used in the past with its Arc and Arc Ultra soundbars. The documents also list color options we'll likely see …

After being announced last September, Dolby Vision 2 is rolling out to TVs, starting with the 2026 Hisense UX, UR9, UR8, and U7. TCL and Philips will be adding Dolby Vision 2 support to select TVs later this year.

Dolby Vision 2 is a new dynamic HDR format with a more powerful image engine and expanded metadata compared to its predecessor, Dolby Vision, which came out over a decade ago. It has two tiers: Dolby Vision 2 Max, which will be on this first group of Hisense TVs, and a standard-level Dolby Vision 2.

The Max level includes a motion smoothing feature (Authentic Motion), an updated version of the ambient light sensor adjustment cur …
