The Nintendo Switch 2 has apparently been jailbroken, and a modder has already shown the console running a custom version of Mario Kart World featuring new playable characters like Cinnamoroll, the red Angry Bird, Peter Griffin, and Steve from Minecraft.

Wii Sports is back on the Switch 2, and it rules

A screenshot from the video game Nintendo Switch Sports Resort.

Wii Sports holds an important place in Nintendo's history. It's the best-selling piece of software the company has ever made, one that permeated culture in surprising ways, and its success helped rejuvenate Nintendo after a period of steady decline. It also kicked off one of the company's most important and unassuming franchises. While subsequent sports titles from Nintendo never sold quite as well as the original Wii Sports, they've become a fixture for each new console, much like a new Mario Kart or Pokémon. And now the Switch 2 has its own version, Nintendo Switch Sports Resort, and it's the best so far.

You'd be forgiven for not realizi …

Now play Pokémon with your friends

Hey, remember Pokémon Platinum Version? You know, the best game of Pokémon's best era? Giant fictionalized Hokkaido to explore, evil team that wanted to make the world a nightmare dimension? If you've been hankering to revisit the best of the DS (which I kind of have lately, as it and its rival the PSP re-enter the zeitgeist thanks to hipsters), you no longer have to do it alone. — Read the rest

Game Boy becomes Game Man with giant-sized version

The Game Man cometh. Screengrab via Nick Alvarez on YouTube

It's taken 37 years for Nintendo's humble Game Boy to hit puberty, but the hour has finally come. What's even cooler than a video game console you can carry around in your pocket? One the size of an actual person that runs on game cartridges a family of four could eat dinner on, of course. — Read the rest

Retro-Joystick #64: Virtual Boy Controller

Modell: Virtual Boy Controller . Hersteller: Nintendo. Erschienen: 1995
