One of 2027’s Biggest Games Has Been Delayed

5 November 2026 at 16:12

The first few months of 2027 have some amazing titles scheduled to arrive, but one of the most-anticipated ones just got pushed back by a few months.

Santa Monica Studio make waves at San Diego Comic-Con back in the summer with the surprise reveal of God of War Laufey. Not only did the presentation confirm the next installment in the Sony exclusive franchise, but it also provided an extended look at gameplay and an early 2027 release date.

The original release window reveal shared that God of War Laufey was targeting a February 2027 launch. The team behind the game reconfirmed that release date in September 2026, but now it sounds like plans have changed.

Rather than arriving in February 2027, God of War Laufey is now releasing May 20, 2027. Santa Monica Studio confirmed the new plans on social media:

β€œSince the reveal of God of War Laufey in June, we’ve been deeply grateful to see so much excitement for Faye’s journey through the Everywhen. We don’t take for granted the trust placed in the studio to make an extraordinary experience worthy of the passion and dedication of our fans.

With this in mind, we’ve made the decision to delay God of War Laufey’s release to May 20th, 2027.

We will make the most of each moment until then by putting in the finishing touches and pushing the game to its fullest potential.

On behalf of every on the team, we appreciate your patience and we’ll be back to share more updates soon!”

Although it’s disappointing that fans will have to wait until closer to the summer, this game was already arriving much sooner than most people expected, so the release date shift isn’t too big of a surprise.

The game is likely going to be a game of the year contender in 2027, so it makes sense that the team wants to take their time and make sure it’s fully ready for launch before pushing it out the door.

Be sure to check back soon for lots more God of War Laufey news and updates in the coming months as the release date approaches.

God of War Laufey releases May 20, 2027 exclusively on the PS5.

Sony is enjoying a sharp profit spike in its latest quarterly financials, largely driven by its PlayStation business and the blockbuster success of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. According to the company's September earnings, Sony's net profits climbed to 449.60 billion yen (about $2.84 billion) for the three months ended September - a 44 percent increase compared to the 311.4 billion yen ($1.96 billion) it reported for the same period last year.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day was a notable contributor, which released in July and became the third-highest grossing movie in history by earning $2.52 billion at the global box office. That's a huge boost …

The Sony WH-1000XM4C bring back a beloved headphone design

26 October 2026 at 17:45
The Sony XM4C headphones on a wooden table in front of their case and a MacBook.
With only minor changes, the XM4C is more of a re-release than a refresh of the XM4.

When Sony announced the WH-1000XM4C headphones, I was perplexed. A product revamp usually includes at least one or two significant improvements. Or if it's a nostalgia play, it's from a decades-old product and not one that came out in 2020. Beyond a few minor tweaks, though, the XM4C are remarkably similar to their six-year-old namesake, the beloved WH-1000XM4. They even use the same processor for active noise cancellation (ANC).

And while I went into this review questioning the XM4C's existence, after spending some time with them, I get it. The Sony XM4C aren't the cutting edge of headphone technology, but they are great headphones that I …

The PS5. Image: Sony

Remember when the PS5 Pro launched and we all lost our collective minds about it costing $700, which is, to be fair, still an egregious price for a console? Good times.

If only we knew, right? The enormity of the AI component crunch hadn't quite hit us yet, and a future where people could still afford to play video games still seemed possible. β€” Read the rest
