One of The Beatles Lost His Virginity While His Bandmates Were in the Room

19 August 2026 at 03:29

The Beatles had a very casual attitude about sex, by their own admission. And, as it turns out, there were plenty of occasions where the different members witnessed each other getting down and dirty. Paul McCartney, for example, recalled how he’d once walked in on John Lennon and saw “a little bottom bobbing up and down with a girl underneath him.”

McCartney went on to say, “It was perfectly normal. You’d go, ‘Oh…sorry,’ and back out the room.”

But that’s nothing compared to what happened the night George Harrison lost his virginity. As Harrison explained in 2000’s The Beatles Anthology, sex wasn’t easy to come by for them in England during the late 1950s. “The girls would all wear brassieres and corsets, which seemed like reinforced steel,” Harrison remembered. That all changed in the ‘60s, when he and the rest of the band were invited to play in Hamburg, Germany.

The Rest of the Beatles Were There When George Harrison Lost His Virginity

While in town, the quartet—which was then made up of Harrison, McCartney, Lennon and drummer Pete Best—shared a room. Harrison met a buxom German dancer at one point, and that’s where things start to get a little weird. After bringing the girl back to the room, Harrison found his other bandmates in their beds. For whatever reason, this didn’t deter the teenage Harrison, who was a virgin up until that point, and he proceeded to have sex with the young woman anyway.

According to Harrison, the rest of the Beatles watched as he did his thing—to some extent, anyway. “We were in bunk beds,” Harrison revealed. “They couldn’t really see anything because I was under the covers, but after I’d finished, they all applauded and cheered,” he continued.

“At least they kept quiet while I was doing it,” Harrison joked.

The Oasis Documentary Trailer Is Here, and I’m Not Crying, You’re Crying

18 August 2026 at 23:11

A trailer for the new Oasis documentary is here, and someone must be cutting onions because these ol’ blue eyes of mine are MISTY.

The film is titled Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger, and it follows the story of the band from their early beginnings to now. Revealing Oasis’ trajectory from their rise to superstardom to an embattled place in rock history, the film ends at their 2025 reunion tour. It was an event for the ages that many were skeptical would finish, if they even believed it would get off the ground at all.

This new teaser indicates that fans are getting a fairly comprehensive and vulnerable look at the lives of Noel and Liam Gallagher, their contentious relationship, and overcoming their sibling rivalry to reclaim their alt-rock throne.

A description of the film reads: “Alongside the band’s sold-out world tour, the film also explores the profound emotional impact of this phenomenal global cultural moment and what their music means to audiences and generations worldwide.”

The Oasis documentary has some acclaimed filmmaking names behind it

The new Oasis documentary is produced by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight (Peaky Blinders) and directed by Dylan Southern and Will Lovelace. Southern and Lovelcase are known for helming the renowned LCD Soundsystem documentary: Shut Up And Play The Hits.

Knight previously spoke about the film, saying, “The Oasis world tour united generations, cultures and countries and spoke to a broken world about reconciliation. Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger is not only your ticket to the show – it’s a backstage pass and a seat at the table when Liam and Noel sit down together for the first time in 15 years and tell it how it is and how it was.”

NME also noted that Noel Gallagher previously offered some comments on the film. “I’ve only seen a tiny little bit of [the film], and it’s difficult to have an opinion on it because I’m only looking at little snippets,” he said. “Everyone who has seen it, or seen more of it than I have, has said that it’s amazing. If it even captures five per cent of what that tour was, it’ll be astonishing. Looking forward to it.”

Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger will premiere in theaters and IMAX on September 11, 2026. It will be available to stream on Disney+ sometime later this year.

ZZ Top Drummer Frank Beard, the Only Guy in the Band Without the Famous Beard, Dead at 77

18 August 2026 at 22:30

As previously reported, ZZ Top cancelled their August 5 concert at the Hollywood Bowl. They were set to co-headline with Cheap Trick. This was a last-minute cancellation, and future dates were cancelled as well. Initially, it was reported that this was due to “unforeseen personnel matters”. Confused by the cancellations, fans have finally found an answer. Longtime ZZ Top drummer Frank Beard has died at the age of 77.

In an Instagram post, guitarist Billy F. Gibbons announced the passing of his longtime bandmate. “Today, Elwood and I lost a great friend and collaborator, and the world lost one of the most naturally innovative drummers and a great and true son of Texas. His signature backbeat was key to keeping ZZ on top.”

Additionally, band management announced, “Following Frank’s passing, ZZ Top has cancelled its upcoming shows in Salt Lake City and Colorado Springs. The band will resume its current The Big One! Tour this weekend with two dates at Austin City Limits, one of Frank’s favorite venues and in a city that had been something of a second home for him”.

In 2021, the band’s longtime bass player, Dusty Hill, died in his sleep. It was Beard who introduced Hill to guitarist Billy F. Gibbons, and the three formed ZZ Top.

a brief history of zz top

Initially, drummer Frank Beard and bassist Dusty Hill performed together in multiple groups during the mid-to-late 1960s. In May 1969, Frank Beard joined a band called The Moving Sidewalks, which featured blues-rock guitarist Billy F. Gibbons. Beard introduced Gibbons to Hill, who joined the band shortly after. Beard’s drums were a crucial key to the band’s signature sound. Once the trio honed in on their trademark “Texas boogie blues-rock”, they recorded the band’s debut.

Brilliantly titled, ZZ Top’s First Album was released in 1971, and their sophomore album, Rio Grande Mud, in 1972. It would be their third album, Tres Hombres, that broke the band into mainstream rock radio, peaking at No. 8 on the Billboard 200. Their single, “La Grange,” was the first of many signature blues-rock tracks the band would release throughout the 70s and 80s. They followed up with “Tush” in 1975, which peaked at No. 20 on the Billboard Hot 100.

In 1981, the band rebranded itself for the decade ahead. Ultimately, their eighth studio album, Eliminator, became the band’s most commercially successful release. Four high-charting singles, “Gimme All Your Lovin'”, “Sharp Dressed Man”, “TV Dinners”, and “Legs,” all became rock radio staples for decades to come.

Did MTV Just Quietly Kill Off the VMA for Best Rock Video?

18 August 2026 at 22:27

The 2026 MTV VMA nominations have been released, and we’re crowding the halls like high school drama kids trying to see who scored the lead in the musical. Madonna tops the list with 11 nominations this year, beating her own previous record of nine. Taylor Swift has the second most nominations with nine of her own, then Ariana Grande and Sabrina Carpenter each with seven, then Bruno Mars, PinkPantheress, and Zara Larsson have five each.

Notably, past Video of the Year winners Grande, Madonna, and Swift are nominated for the big winner category once again. There are of course first-time nominees, some promising Best New Artist nominations, and the return of the Best Dance category after seven years.

But with all the announcements from the MTV VMAs, some categories are worryingly absent. Two big genre categories, to be exact. Best Rock and Best Afrobeats were not included among the nominees. They were included in last years awards, but not heavily featured during the broadcast.

It’s possible that these categories just haven’t been announced yet, and the nominations are on the way. However, a Billboard report claiming to be the full list is missing these two genres. Several other crucial categories are also missing. These include Best Pop Artist, Push Performance of the Year, Best Album, Video for Good, Best Long-Form Video, Best Group, and Song of Summer.

The MTV VMAs Caters to Mainstream Music, Which Means Fewer Subgenre Categories

Speculating on whether or not these categories have been axed won’t reveal any new information. Truly, we won’t know until we know. Still, it’s interesting to consider why the MTV VMAs would get rid of several categories that seem like they’d be pretty important for a music award show.

Generally, the award show format is a popularity contest for mainstream entertainment, and it’s always been that way. Plus, there’s absolutely no way for a single award show to represent every aspect of music and nominate without bias and satisfy everyone who has a stake in it. By design, popularity contests leave a lot of room for disappointment.

At the heart of it, the VMAs are awards for music videos. The best albums, artists, and performances are better represented by the Grammy Awards. Although the Recording Academy has its own problems. But for a music video award show to leave out nominations for two video-based categories like Video for Good and Best Long-Form Video is strange. All that, and we’re missing Song of the Summer? Perhaps the VMAs need to get their priorities straightened out.

I Want My MTV (To Reevaluate What They Think ‘Alternative’ Means)

However, there’s some good news. Looking at the full list of genre specific categories, the representation is pretty decent. Pop, Hip-Hop, Alternative, R&B, K-Pop, Dance, Latin, and Country is not a bad mix, all things considered. However, that also means we get Noah Kahan, Olivia Rodrigo, mgk, and Tame Impala next to Geese and Twenty One Pilots in the Alternative category.

As mentioned above, there’s going to be some disappointment when you’re dealing with a general music award show like the MTV VMAs. They cater to the mainstream, which means a lot of pop music and fewer, if any, subgenre categories. All told, this isn’t a bad spread. Just don’t expect to see Best Haunted Carnival Metal on the nomination list any time soon.

Matthew McConaughey Quit Smoking Weed With the Help of This 1993 Smash Hit (Played Over 20 Times)

18 August 2026 at 21:49

There are probably not a lot of people who can say that Janet Jackson is the reason they quit smoking weed. Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey, however, is one of them.

The story came up while McConaughey was speaking to Rolling Stone for the outlet’s My Life In 10 Songs feature. On his list, the Rivals of Amziah King actor included Jackson’s 1993 single “That’s The Way Love Goes”.

“What a cool, groovy little tune,” McConaughey said, then revealing how impactful the song really was on him. “It’s also the reason I quit smoking weed.” After a chuckle, he explained that, “right around the time weed started turning hydroponic,” he heard the song and was taken aback by the marijuana’s hallucinogenic capabilities.

“That’s the Way Love Goes” was the first single of Janet Jackson’s fifth album

“A lot of y’all don’t remember, but weed used to be: you could roll a joint, smoke it, pass it around, everyone giggles, gets the munchies, and maybe runs off and tries to get some snuggle time,” McConaughey reflected. “Well then it started getting this hydroponic stuff where one toke, the subplots could become unmanageable, and people would implode.”

“I was headed to my own birthday party,” he went on to share. “We’d taken over the club for my birthday party. I’m gonna drive myself. Before I go, my buddy hands me this joint; he goes, ‘Here, man. Have some of this, super fun.’ I get there, and I take the toke in the car. It was not like the weed I’d smoked before.”

McConaughey continued, “I listened to Janet Jackson’s ‘That’s the Way Love Goes’ 24 times in a row, and when I finally got out of the car to go into my birthday party, no one was in there, ‘cause it was over. They’d all left.”

“I sat in the frickin’ car listening to ‘That’s the Way Love Goes’ 24 times because I thought, at the time, that that was more important than going to my own birthday party,” he concluded. “Love the song, didn’t love the weed. Still like the tune, though.”

3 Hardcore Punk Bands From the 80s That Accidentally Created Emo of the 90s and 2000s

18 August 2026 at 20:26

Many may not realize that emo music was actually created in the 1980s. The first wave of emo, originally dubbed emotional hardcore, derived from the hardcore punk movement of the 1980s. This first wave of emo took place from 1985 to 1991. Hardcore bands from both the East and West coasts laid the initial foundation of emo in the 80s, with bands such as Sunny Day Real Estate taking the genre into its second wave in the mid-90s.

After the turn of the century, bands such as My Chemical Romance and Fall Out Boy notably took the genre into the mainstream. These three 80s hardcore punk bands accidentally created the second and third waves of emo in the 90s and 2000s.

embrace

This short-lived hardcore punk band formed in Washington, D.C in 1985. It featured Minor Threat vocalist Ian MacKaye, a central figure in the decade’s hardcore movement. The vocalist is often credited with creating the straight edge movement, rejecting the use of drugs or alcohol. By the mid-80s, Minor Threat had parted ways, and MacKaye briefly joined Teen Idles as a bassist.

In the summer of 1985, MacKaye formed Embrace with three former members of The Faith. This summer has been dubbed Revolution Summer, which marks a time when many hardcore punk bands in the D.C. scene began experimenting and branching out. Other groups included in the Revolution Summer are Rites of Spring, Beefeater, Dag Nasty, and Egg Hunt. Embrace was one of the first bands the press dubbed emotional hardcore, though they despised the label. Still, it’s a fact that the group helped create the genre in 1985.

jawbreaker

On the West Coast, bands such as Jawbreaker also helped create emo with their poetic take on hardcore. Their initial run from 1986 to 1996 put them among the most influential hardcore punk groups of the 1990s. Formed in East Bay, California, in 1986, Jawbreaker released their debut album, Unfun, in 1990. Their debut is among the earliest examples of emo.

Bands that cited Jawbreaker as an influence include Saves the Day, Dashboard Confessional, Alkaline Trio, The Get Up Kids, and many more. Genre-defining bands such as Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance also credit Jawbreaker as a major influence, as these bands took the genre into the mainstream in the 2000s.

turning point

Formed in Moorestown, New Jersey, this straight edge hardcore band is mostly categorized as youth crew hardcore. Their initial run from 1988 to 1991 saw the band become more emo-influenced in their later releases. This helped shape the second wave of emo in the 1990s. Bands such as Thursday, Lifetime, Texas is the Reason, and Fury credit Turning Point’s emotional hardcore side as a major influence. Many hardcore punk bands of the 2000s also cite Turning Point as a major influence on the youth crew resurgence in the 21st century. Additionally, bands such as Title Fight also cite Turning Point as a crucial influence.

Remember When the Sex Pistols (Literally) Bottled the Smell of Punk Rock and Told Fans to ‘Disregard Aromatic Conventions’

18 August 2026 at 20:24

The Sex Pistols are one of the most influential punk rock bands of all time. From music to fashion, and even perfume. Yes, that just unlocked a memory, because now you’re remembering Sex Pistols: The Scent.

Back in 2010, the legendary group released a “God Save the Queen” branded gender-neutral perfume. The unusual move was a collaboration with Paris-based perfume brand Etat Libre d’Orange, per Billboard. The company licensed the Sex Pistols name from their merchandising partner, Live Nation Merchandise.

Sex Pistols Perfume: For the Anarchist who really wants to smell like one

At the time, members of the Sex Pistols did not publicly comment on the scent. However, Michael Krassner—who was executive VP of worldwide retail and licensing for LNM—stated that the band was “closely involved” with all licensing decisions.

“They know who they are better than we do,” Krassner said. “That’s difficult in some respects, as opposed to someone who just approves everything. But ultimately, if you want your brand to endure, you have to have a level of consistency and quality over time.”

The Sex Pistols scent featured elements of pepper, leather, and patchouli

According to the Fragrantica database, “The nose behind this fragrance is Mathilde Bijaoui.” The scent featured elements of “Pepper, Amalfi Lemon, Aldehydes, Leather, Patchouli, Plum, Ambrette (Musk Mallow), and Heliotrope.”

The composition was designed to capture “the spirit of punk in the bottle, under the name of the band.” Bijaoui worked to craft a “rebellious peppery-scented” odor that would be as inspirational as the “anarchy and chaos” ideologies that defined the punk rebellion of the 1970s United Kingdom. For that reason, it was defined as a “revolution in a bottle.”

“Fresh lemon bites you early in the composition, sharpened by the defiant black pepper,” the description adds. “The unruly turbulence is caused by prune and intense ambrette seed, while the electricity of aldehydes, further inflated with leather and heliotrope, is subsequently grounded and brought back to earth by patchouli note.”

Fragrantica goes on to note, “Besides the intense flavor, the pack is also designed in the spirit of punk. The graphics are inspired by the cover of their first single, 1977’s “God Save The Queen.” Sex Pistols perfume is available as [a] 50 ml EDP.”

‘I Think I Almost Killed Him’: Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas Nails Bandmate in the Head With Mic Stand Mid-Show

18 August 2026 at 19:14

During a show on August 16, 2026, Rob Thomas nearly took out his Matchbox Twenty bandmate Paul Doucette with a mic stand, and the moment quickly went viral. While playing the Illinois State Fair, Thomas swung his mic stand around his head mid-show. Unfortunately, he was unaware that the guitarist was right behind him.

With Doucette also unaware of the imminent danger, the mic stand caught him in the side of the head. Visibly in pain, he left the stage to get the injury evaluated. The band continued playing, as Rob Thomas was unaware that he’d just smacked Doucette. But a moment later, he expressed his regret.

“Every night I’m over here, and I’m throwing this goddamn thing around,” Thomas told the crowd in a fan-captured video. “It nailed him. Yeah, it nailed him hard. My best friend in the world, and I think I almost killed him, and I feel really bad about this.”

Matchbox Twenty’s Rob Thomas Feels ‘Really Bad’ About Nearly Taking Out His Guitarist With a Mic Stand

As Paul Doucette was evaluated backstage, Rob Thomas placated the crowd. He asked fans to “give us one second” while Doucette got his bearings again. Considering how heavy mic stands can be, he most likely got his bell rung quite a bit. The acrobatics may be a typical move for Thomas, but this was probably the first time it had caused an injury.

“By the way, it felt like a really good idea right up until now,” Thomas told the crowd. “Throwin’ that s**t around! I feel like an ass.”

But he didn’t have to feel bad for very long. Doucette quickly joined the rest of Matchbox Twenty on stage again, complete with what looked like an alcoholic beverage. There’s nothing like a stiff drink after a blow to the head. Additionally, Doucette didn’t seem to hold a grudge about getting whacked in the noggin. Although he did scold his bandmate a bit.

“I don’t know how many times I’ve told you about swinging that f**king thing,” he told Rob Thomas. “I knew it was only a matter of time. It’s been 30 years!”

He added, “Now, admittedly I’ve been in the back for the first half of that, and maybe I’ve gotta go back there because it’s obviously safer.” Doucette did just that, staying far out of range of Rob Thomas, who joked if he was still in “the danger zone.”

However, it seems like the possibility of this incident being way worse than it was served as a lesson to Rob Thomas. “I’m going to be apologizing to you all month,” he told Doucette. He also added, “I think I know one thing I’m gonna stop doing.” Whether the lesson sticks is another story.

Relationship Material? 3 Red Flags Hidden in Someone’s Music Taste

18 August 2026 at 19:00

Every first date has the same game plan: look for all the red flags. The quicker you’re able to spot all of them, the easier it’ll be to realize whether or not you should pursue something serious with someone. The last thing you want is to get surprised out of nowhere when a certain trait about someone sours the relationship.

Perhaps the easiest way to root out these issues is to ask them their favorite artists. In a sense, what they listen to allows you a deeper examination into their psyche. If they play a lot of old-school R&B, they’re probably a hopeless romantic. If they play a lot of emo, they might grapple with depression.

The same idea applies to certain red flags. How they talk about their favorite artists will likely determine aspects about them that will make or break any future dates. We’ve selected three that might help narrow down the process.

Three Red Flags That Could Be Explained Through Their Favorite Artists

Kanye West = Talks About Themselves a Lot, Massive Ego

Even Kanye West will admit to having an unparalleled ego. Frankly, with the catalog he’s built over two decades, it’s at least a little understandable. However, that does not apply to the Kanye stan who works an extremely ordinary job.

Anyone who lives and dies by Ye will probably echo a lot of his sentiments, posing as an innovator and will probably talk your head off at a date, all while not asking a single question about you. If you wouldn’t date Ye and his red flags, you definitely should avoid them with a regular person too.

BTS/K-Pop = Obsessive, Controlling

From the outside looking in, K-Pop fandom can get pretty intense. The BTS army jumped down the group’s throats for taking a picture with Chris Brown. These are their ‘idols’ after all, so they have to make a good impression at all times.

This mindset would absolutely poison any healthy relationship. It’s fine to have some level of expectations. But it’s another thing entirely when every waking moment is meticulously monitored. As loyal and devoted as they might be, it’ll inevitably prove exhausting.

Taylor Swift = Main Character Syndrome

I mean, it goes without saying that the pop star who literally made a song called “ME!” might be at least mildly self-absorbed. Ever since her first big hits, Taylor Swift has made music like she’s the only person in the universe. On “You Belong With Me”, she talks about the cheerleader like the most evil person in the world. If it wasn’t written by a teenager, it would feel a little insane.

So eyeball that woman who likes “You Belong With Me” a little more than everyone else. They probably have red flags hidden in plain sight.

EDM Star Abruptly Cancels the Rest of His Summer Schedule: ‘I Rarely Ever Do This’

18 August 2026 at 18:48

Every artist needs a break, even the hardest-working ones. John Summit has been one of the most prolific DJs working today. But after a hefty workload this summer, he’s finally decided to take some time off.

In an August 2026 announcement made on Instagram, Summit shared with fans that he’s unfortunately canceling the rest of the summer festivals he was slated to perform. However, with his own tour on the horizon, he deemed it necessary to finally get some rest.

“After much thought, I have decided to take the rest of august off of touring to rest & get ready for my upcoming arena tour,” John Summit wrote. “I unfortunately will not be able to make it to pukkelpop, creamfields, radio 1 malta & touquet festivals. I rarely ever do this but there is so much work to do for the tour and I need to recharge my battery a bit before this fall. Thanks for understanding.”

Thankfully, it seems like fans are actually understanding of his need to rest. One fan commented, “Good for you John. Take a break and recharge for your upcoming tour: you have been touring almost nonstop for what feels like several years and coming up with new visuals, lightning concepts, and set lists all take time… Your Lollapalooza set was the best thing I saw all weekend and Chicago is proud of you dude.”

John Summit Takes a Long Overdue Break from Performing Ahead of His Tour

The EDM artist is set to embark on his CTRL ESCAPE Arena Tour starting October 1. Initially, his run was going to end with a show in Oakland, California. However, when faced with an opportunity to perform at the LA Coliseum in Los Angeles on December 12, he immediately hopped on board.

“Over the years LA has made some of the most special moments of my career,” John Summit told fans. “From the palladium to the shrine, then bmo stadium to kia forum.. we knew we had to end the album tour on the highest note in los angeles.”

Summit’s decision to stop performing for a while was clearly a difficult decision for him. In an interview with NYLON, he admitted the various obligations he has to fulfill can grow deeply exhausting. “It’s not just DJing. You also have to produce,” John Summit explained. “I have my own record label. I have my own events… my own festival, my own merch line. You have to run like 10 different social media accounts. You have to be a marketer, basically; you have to be a good influencer nowadays, too.”

Shakira Pledges $1.25 Million to Rebuild 10 Schools and a University After Columbia Earthquake

18 August 2026 at 17:44

On the morning of August 10, a powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia. The damage left many buildings razed or severely damaged. This natural disaster struck in the heart of Colombia’s coffee-growing region, with tremors felt in neighboring Venezuela, which experienced intense earthquakes earlier this year. The earthquake was the country’s strongest since 1990, leaving over 3,000 injured with roughly 300 fatalities.

In response to this tragedy, Colombian native Shakira is offering support to her homeland. The singer comes from Barranquilla, located on the northern Caribbean coast. Her music career launched out of the country’s capital, Bogotá, the largest city in the country. The 7.4 magnitude earthquake struck 149 miles west of Bogotá, where the city experienced tremors.

On Monday, August 17, Shakira traveled to Quibdó, the capital of the province of Chocó. In this region, nearly 200 schools reported damage following the catastrophic quake. Shakira met with students and educators in the area and toured the damaged classrooms. Additionally, she met with Chocó’s governor, Nubia Carolina Córdoba, and Quibdó’s mayor, Rafael Bolaños.

ShAKIRA, gLOBAL CITIZEN, AND LIVE NATION PLEDGE TO REBUILD SCHOOLS

The “Queen of Latin Music” has pledged $1.25 million to rebuild 10 schools and a University. On her visit to her homeland, the singer was accompanied by philanthropist Howard Buffett. He has announced that his foundation would separately support the reconstruction of 10 additional schools in Chocó. To this, the philanthropist reported, “When she calls, I come.”

Shakira has stated, “What worries me the most is that schools are not rebuilt once this emergency is over. Every day that children don’t go to school is a day they miss out on their future.” The singer went on to say, “It’s a place I love, a place where I’ve seen our students grow in our classrooms. I really want to see it rebuilt again.”

In 1997, Shakira founded Fundación Pies Descalzos, expanding educational access for children in Colombia. Her foundation has operated out of Chocó for more than two decades and has run two schools in the region. Also, Shakira is dedicating her personal efforts to rebuilding a local technology university in the province of Chocó.

Shakira has partnered with Live Nation to pledge $500,000 to rebuild the schools. This coincides with a $500,000 pledge from the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund and $250,000 from CAF, the development bank of Latin America and the Caribbean. The combined $1.25 million will be processed through Shakira’s foundation, Fundación Pies Descalzos.

Post Malone Played the Rarest ‘Magic: The Gathering’ Card Ever—and It’s Worth $2 Million

18 August 2026 at 17:43

We nerds will remember that back in 2023, Post Malone acquired the rarest Magic: The Gathering card ever. Well, he just played it in a match, and his opponents were flabbergasted. Yes, I said, “flabbergasted.”

Posty turned up on an August 2026 episode of The Command Zone’s Game Knights, playing a game of Magic with some fellow Planeswalkers. At one point, he unsheathed the holy grail card: The one-of-one The One Ring card, which he paid $2 million to own.

“I’m taking it out of the obnoxious big block,” Posty said, to the other players’ gasps. “It would ruin game night.”

The elusive card was part of the 2023 The Lord of the Rings: Tales of Middle-earth set. However, Wizards of the Coast only printed one serialized 001/001 version of The One Ring. This was to symbolize the uniqueness of the famed item at the center of J.R.R. Tolkien’s famous epic.

Collectors began seeking it out as soon as the set dropped, but it was ultimately unpacakaged by Canadian collector Brook Trafton. The card was then authenticated by PSA (Professional Sports Authenticator) and graded Mint 9. Malone bought it from Trafton in August 2023, paying a $2 million bounty.

Post Malone’s 001/001 ‘one ring’ card is the only one in existence

“When I found the One Ring, the first person who came to mind was Post Malone,” Trafton commented on a video of the sale. “I have played MTG since I was a kid and obviously it would be amazing to keep this card. But for a guy like me, being able to sell it is life-changing. I just really hoped it would go to someone who would appreciate it as much as I do.”

There are common versions of the One Ring card, and Malone’s plays just like those. Per Polygon: “When it enters the battlefield, it grants protection from everything until the player’s next turn, then can be tapped to draw cards at the cost of accumulating burden counters that eventually drain life.”

This Experimental Rap Artist Is Rivaling Kanye With His Attacks on His Own Fan Base: ‘I’m Really Sorry That You’re All Like That’

18 August 2026 at 17:00

We’ve heard of rappers starting beef with other artists countless times. The root of the beef could be literally anything. But have you ever heard of them beefing with the people who listen to their music? JPEGMAFIA will beef with just about anyone, and now his fans are on that list.

The Experimental Rap artist published a series of apologies on X, one of which addressed the wilder set of people in his fanbase. “Some of you are genuinely strange and think that because I rapped about anime 20 years ago, it means I’m an expert on whatever weird part of the internet you’re in. I’m sorry that you think this way, and I hope you grow up someday,” JPEGMAFIA wrote.

The people in his replies, fans and otherwise, were largely raising their eyebrows. One person said what many were probably thinking: why was this worth sharing? “All you do is be negative all [the] time and you expect to have some lovely fanbase?? Do you not see how your actions foster this type of fanbase?”

Similarly, non-fans who stumbled upon the tweet were joking that JPEG is always mad about something. “Every time I see a JPEGMAFIA tweet he mad as f**k about some s**t I dead never even heard of,” they shared.

JPEGMafia Randomly Made Fun of A lot of his fans one night

Additionally, amid the other apologies, the rapper delivered a backhanded comment reminiscent of old Kanye rants. “I apologize that a lot of you are so jealous and obsessed with me that my name is in your mouth 24/7. I’m really sorry that you’re all like that,” he added.

This all came on the heels of JPEGMAFIA randomly inciting a beef with LA and Odd Future legend Earl Sweatshirt. The former subliminally threw shots at Earl when talking about his own music and how other people aren’t truly “experimental.”

“Other people in this genre, they want to pretend and try to be cool and be like, ‘I don’t want to be experimental rap. I want to be something else, I want to f***ing rap like Lucki. I want to make songs that the young people make,’” JPEGMAFIA said. “I’m not having a midlife crisis, musically, so I don’t really need to do that. I can just be myself, and I let other people try to figure out who they are at 40 or whatever.”

Earl Sweatshirt didn’t take it nearly as seriously as he could have. Instead, he engaged in an ultimate roasting session over JPEGMAFIA’s music. “Lmao leave me alone pls i make music with my friends that i have (derogatory),” he laughed in one comment. “Nobody copies cuh because his music is gnarled rough and ugly.”

Boston Music Scene Mourns Death of Rock ‘Giant’ Who Played With Punk and Alt-Rock Favorites

18 August 2026 at 16:54

Linda Bean Pardee, bassist with bands like Gang of Four, Orbit, and The Chelsea Curve, has died. Gang of Four’s official Facebook page broke the news to fans. “Such sad news,” the post read. “Linda almost came to Australia with us. A huge loss to Boston’s music scene and all who knew her.” Their post added, “All Together, Now: F**K CANCER.”

Pardee passed away on August 17, 2026, after a battle with cancer. She most recently played with Gang of Four from 2023 to 2024, and was allegedly going to join up with them again, according to the band. She was also a member of Orbit, who posted their own tribute to the beloved Boston-area bassist.

“We’ve lost our Soul Sister,” the lengthy post began. “We are heart broken with the sudden loss of Linda Bean Pardee. Linda was the heart and soul of ORBIT. She inadvertently propelled the band through her joy of playing music … Her presence elevated the band on so many levels.” The post also included condolences for Pardee’s family and other bandmates, noting, “They know how much of a joy it was to be playing music with her and our feeling this tragic loss.”

Pardee played with Orbit from 1999 until their final show in 2001, then again in May 2025 when the band reunited. She played more than 100 shows with Orbit across three national tours and several regional treks. Additionally, she played bass on three of their albums: the 2000 EP Tonedeaf, XLR8R in 2001, and Vapor Trails in 2020.

Tributes for Bassist Linda Bean Pardee Highlight Her Impact on the Boston Music Scene

Linda Bean Pardee clearly touched many lives in the Boston music scene, considering how many tributes are coming forth from those who knew and worked with her. More posts about Pardee’s influence came from musician Smitt E. Smitty, Boston-area rock publicist Michael O’Connor Marotta, and Light of Day Records.

Marotta described Pardee as “a whirling dervish of style and grace, a devoted friend to all she met, and an integral part of what makes the Boston music scene so spectacular … There is cool, and then there is Linda Bean Pardee cool.”

“To say Linda was a gift to all of us is the understatement of the universe,” Smitty wrote on Facebook. “I/we are still processing the loss of this magnitude … The only word that even comes close is love. Full on love and gratitude that we were lucky enough to know Linda and were blessed enough to have her in our lives.”

“Linda Bean Pardee was a giant in our Boston music scene and will be sorely missed,” wrote Light of Day Records on Facebook. “Even more importantly, she was a genuine, caring person who showed up to support others in the scene and beyond.”

Pardee was most recently a member of The Chelsea Curve. They supported U.K. band The Len Price 3 on a brief tour of New England in March 2026. These included clubs in New Hampshire, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and New York. The Chelsea Curve has not yet addressed Pardee’s passing, but the Boston music scene has clearly come together in support and mourning.

Drake Responds After ‘Goated’ Ella Langly Spotted Vibing Out to His Song With Lil Wayne

17 August 2026 at 23:59

Ella Langley was recently spotted vibing out to Drake and Lil Wayne’s song “HYFR” online. Now, Champagne Papi has responded with matched energy.

In a post on social media, the “Choosin’ Texas” singer lip-synced along to “HYFR” played in the background. Then, Drake took to one of her Instagram posts, liking it and commenting, “Goated Pen,” alongside a pen emoji.

We can only assume the light banter here is just friendly, but Drake does have a charm that often implies more. This was certainly true of his online date with content creator and cosplayer Pinkchyu.

The OnlyFans star was the winner of a 20v1 gameshow, as part of Stake’s ninth anniversary celebration. As part of her prize, she got to spend some 1-on-1 time with the rapper.

Pinkchyu was later asked by TMZ if she and Drake did more than just talk. “No, no, no. We just had a lot of conversations,” she admitted. She went on to note that she and Drake are “complete opposites.” However, she said he was “wonderfully kind.”

Drake is buying Pinkchyu’s mother a home

Notably, during the stream, Drake promised to buy Pinkchyu’s mom a house, after finding out that this was the main reason she’d signed up for the competition. It appears that he is making good on that promise, and Pinkchyu’s mom is very happy.

“I think she’s just really grateful,” Pinkchyu told TMZ. “I do [OnlyFans] and a lot of the money I have I do take care of my family, like, help my sisters. I’m half Mexican, so we’re all really, really close, and so obviously she’s like over the moon.”

The goth influencer added that Drake’s generosity made her “really happy.”

Pinkchyu wasn’t the only 20v1 contestant to praise Drake for his charm

In additon to Pinkchyu, adult film star Lily Phillips was also a contestant on the 20v1 game show. It also turns out that she had nothing but nice things to say about Drake. I’ve never met a nicer celebrity. He is so down to earth, so goofy, so silly, so funny,” she shared with The Tab. “He is the same with everyone, whether you’ve got a million followers like me or you’ve got zilch.”

3 One-Hit Wonders of the 90s Who Still Perform to This Day

17 August 2026 at 23:30

Earning a hit song isn’t the hardest part; it’s actually penning a follow-up hit. Many bands and artists struggle with this, as the initial hit was a tough enough feat in itself. Replicating success doesn’t always work out, and an artist can easily be forgotten or left behind in the mainstream while continuing to work to build a following on their own. This is why, 30 years later, these one-hit wonders of the 1990s still perform to this very day.

Los Del Río

In the mid-90s, Spanish pop duo Los Del Río penned a massive dance hit called “Macarena”. Initially released in 1993, an upbeat version dubbed the “Bayside Boys Remix” spent 14 weeks at No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 in 1996. This version features an English spoken section by the Bayside Boys, who chant “Hey Macarena!” The dance craze was created after the duo noticed a flamenco dancer in Venezuela performing similar moves. Surprisingly, the duo formed in 1962 and released 20 albums in their career. The pop duo still performs to this day.

Haddaway

Though Haddaway penned only one major hit in the US, they penned multiple in Europe. Nonetheless, he’s included among the one-hit wonders of the 1990s. His 1993 hit “What Is Love” peaked at No. 11 on the US Billboard Hot 100. Though three more singles off the same album charted high in Europe and other countries, none broke into the top 40 in the US. In March, Haddaway released his sixth studio album and has many upcoming performances booked for fall 2026.

TOADIES

As much as their diehard fanbase would like to say otherwise, Toadies fall into the one-hit wonder category. Their signature track “Possum Kingdom” charted significantly higher than their other singles. In 1995, it peaked at No. 4 on the Modern Rock chart and No. 9 on the Mainstream Rock chart. Their follow-up single, “Away”, peaked at No. 28 on the Modern Rock chart and No. 23 on the Mainstream Rock chart. In the 2000’s, “Push The Hand” and “No Deliverance” landed at No. 34 and No. 38, respectively. Toadies still perform with a cult following who will be jumping to debate whether they belong on this list. They’re currently on The Charmer Tour with Local H, performing across the US throughout the fall.

Yungblud Suffered What Should Be a Concert-Cancelling Injury But He’s Still Planning to Perform

17 August 2026 at 22:49

Yungblud has suffered a brutal injury that should be a concert-canceler, but he’s still planning to go on with the show.

Taking to Instagram, Yungblud shared a photo showing his leg in a cast. In the post caption, he quipped that his leg is “f**ked” but that he’s “still standin (sort of)” and will still be “giggin.” Next up, he’s got shows in Portugal and Belgium. “I’m comin, and it’s gonna be f**king mad,” he assured fans. “See you next week. Let’s ride.”

While he doesn’t specifically mention what caused the injury, it is speculated that it’s due to a dirt bike injury.

In response, Yungblud has been getting a lot of support from his followers. “Oh, I remember how you played gigs in a wheelchair in the past,” one person recalled in the post comments. “And how you were jumping even with the wheelchair. Get better soon, Domino!”

Someone else added, “Good lord, Dom, what all damage did the bike do to need a full leg wrap? Road rash from hell, I figure, ouch. We’re gonna have to wrap you in bubble wrap, friend! Hope ya heal up quickly!”

Yungblud had to cancel a North American gig earlier this year

Yungblud’s gnarly leg injury comes weeks after her had to cancel his appearance at the Cowboys Music Festival. The singer was suffering from severe mental health exhaustion and needed time to recover.

In a social media statement, Yungblud explained, “To all my family in Canada, I apologize for not being there with you all this weekend.”

“I’m currently in a place where I’m working on myself and taking time off at home in the U.K.,” the rock star added. “I’m taking this extremely seriously and facing head-on what’s going on for the good of the long term. I will never take any of this for granted, and I will see you all soon. I love you all.”

Yungblud’s management also offered a statement. “Reluctantly, we have made the decision as a team to pull Yungblud from The Cowboys Music Festival in Calgary this Sunday,” they penned. “We are sorry for any disappointment this may cause; these are not decisions we take lightly. All other scheduled shows will go on as planned.”

Finally, Cowboys Music Fest organizers issued a statement as well. “Our thoughts are with Dom (Yungblud). We are sending him all our love and support and wish him nothing but the very best during this time. We want him to know and feel the true love he has here in Canada.”

The Best Part of Netflix’s ‘Tires’ Season 3 Might Be Hiding in the End Credits

17 August 2026 at 21:54

Netflix just dropped Season 3 of Tires, and the new episodes are already making a big hit. However, hidden at the end, in the credits, is one of the best parts of the show.

Tires has been a hit comedy for Netflix over the last few years. Starring comedians like Shane Gillis and Stavros Halkias, the show follows the ins and outs of a medium-level auto shop chain in the Northeast.

‘Tires’: Come for the Comedy, Stay for the dope soundtrack

When the screen goes dark, though, and the credits begin to roll, the music soundtracking the cast and crew is truly incredible. Some other songs from the end credits of Tires Season 3 include “AT&T” by Liquid Mike, “Freaks” by Surf Curse, and “Certain Kinds of Trash” by Chain & The Gang.

At the end of Season 3, Episode 4, you can hear the song “LOS NARCOS” by Master Peace. The British artist even live-reacted to his song being included. Check that out below, and make sure to watch the show for the rest of the killer credits tunes.

Tires was created by Shane Gillis, Steve Gerben, and John McKeever. The show premiered on Netflix in May 2024, and is now in its third season. In addition to Gillis and Halkias, the show’s cast also features Gerben, Chris O’Connor, Kilah Fox, and Thomas Haden Church.

The show has grown to be one of the most popular comedies of the current streaming era, and for good reason. The writing is sharp; the performances are sublime, and, well, I’ve already heaped a lot of praise on the soundtrack.

In 2025, Gerben and McKeever sat down for a Hollywood Reporter interview to discuss the show. Near the end of their conversation, the pair addressed why the show does such a great job handling hot-topic subject matter.

“I’m going to take that one because John would be too modest to answer this. It’s John,” Gerben asserted. “He knows how to walk that line, and he will also— sometimes it’s very hard in the moment when everybody’s pitching, like, funny ideas or whatever, to be the bad guy and be like, ‘That’s too far.’ And yet he makes those decisions. And it is John.”

He added, “That is a very specific thing where it’s like, he— Shane can walk a line too; we’ve all seen that. But insofar as the writing process, John is just so good at that.”

Tony Hawk Says He Won’t Quit Skating Until This Iconic 2000s Rock Band Stops Touring

17 August 2026 at 20:42

On August 15, 2026, pro skate legend Tony Hawk vowed he wouldn’t quit skating until Interpol stops touring. The band kicked off their 2026 North American tour on July 31 in Denver, and were making a stop in San Diego where Tony Hawk introduced them to the crowd.

“It is my honor and privilege to introduce you to this band,” said Hawk from the stage at The Rady Shell at Jacobs Park. He then shared some memories of being a longtime fan, including first discovering their 2002 debut album Turn On the Bright Lights.

“I got to see them live for the first time doing a sound check at Jay Leno,” Hawk continued. Both Interpol and Hawk appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in 2004. “I was a guest on Jay Leno with them [and] they actually had my ramp behind the sound stage … I watched them play ‘Slow Hands’. They watched me do slow hand plants.”

Tony Hawk Draws Comparisons Between His Pro Skate Career and Interpol’s Legacy

Tony Hawk added to his introduction by noting the similarities between his career and Interpol’s. Although he began his pro skating career in the 80s and the band didn’t debut until 2002, he felt that he and Interpol experienced similar paths to success.

“I feel like we’ve had a similar trajectory this whole time. Neither one of us has quit doing what we love,” said Hawk. “I guess what I’m trying to say is, I’m not going to quit skating until Interpol stops touring.”

After the show, Interpol made an Instagram post featuring a fan-captured clip of Tony Hawk’s introduction. They captioned the post, “From Leno in 2004 to now, thanks for riding with us [Tony Hawk].”

Notably, Hawk replied, “My wife said ‘slow handplants’ was lame but I say dad jokes are peak comedy.”

As a day-one Interpol fan, Tony Hawk definitely has something to look forward too soon. The band is releasing their ninth album, This Mirror Weighs a Ton, on August 28, 2026. It’s their first album since 2022, which landed at No. 178 on the U.S. charts. Fans are surely hoping for bigger chart success with this album, but the huge tour they’re embarking on might be enough to satisfy.

The tour continues through August, with their next show stopping in Brooklyn on August 26 for the CBGB Festival. Then, they’re heading to Vancouver, Toronto, and Montreal, before coming back to the states on October 4 for a show in Boston. The remainder of October has them stopping in Pittsburgh, Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, and more before concluding in Nashville on October 17.
