Atomic Shrimp, the godfather of scambaiting, is back

hacker dude

The one upside to the recent explosion of online scams (another symptom of the AI boom β€” thanks, Altman) has been the scambaiting movement growing to match it. There is nothing more cathartic than watching someone take an unsuspecting scammer for a ride, wasting their time, energy and occasionally AI tokens. β€” Read the rest

Husk IRL's AI therapist test is a warning

YouTuber Husk IRL is in kind of a weird spot. Not everyone can say they've more or less invented a wildly popular subgenre of online content β€” in this case, messing with AI agents to expose their many and obvious shortcomings. β€” Read the rest

Simulated screenshots of the YouTube Music app showing where the AI label and info will be

It doesn't sound like this will apply to any and all use of AI tools in making music, but according to YouTube, it includes things like "using a generative model to create the composition and vocals." Unsurprisingly, gambling apps reward gambling addiction

12 October 2026 at 18:11

It's kind of bleak that gambling ads have become so ubiquitous, right? It feels like every time you turn on the TV or click on a YouTube video, you're greeted with some morally bankrupt celebrity β€” usually Kevin Hart β€” trying their hardest to make blowing your life savings on a parlay fun. β€” Read the rest

A sign saying the β€œDepartment of War” at the Pentagon

YouTube, Twitch, Meta, and X aren't saying whether they'll allow the US government to livestream an execution on their platforms. The four companies didn't respond to The Verge's requests for comment after an unnamed Pentagon official said yesterday that the execution of Nidal Hasan, who was convicted of a mass shooting at a Texas military base in 2009, will be livestreamed.

Two platforms responded to The Verge's inquiries. Jamie Favazza, a spokesperson for TikTok's US operations, pointed to the platform's policies banning "shocking and graphic content," including "the moment of someone's death." Kick, a platform known for taking a hands-of …

Skyrim player 397 days β€” Skyrim: Special Edition screenshot

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is fifteen years old. While it's undoubtedly one of the best games ever made, anything will start to wear thin after a decade and a half, except perhaps true love and/or illegal narcotics. With the sequel still nowhere to be seen outside of vague promises from Bethesda that it is a real game that's still being worked on, we swear, Skyrim's fans have had to get… creative to squeeze more enjoyment out of their favorite game. β€” Read the rest

How a real mentalist secretly rigs his mind-reading act

17 September 2026 at 19:32

I kind of like magic shows, but I really like finding out how magician's tricks are done. For me, it's almost all the fun. It's not in the magician's best interest to have their tricks revealed, and they have a code (among themselves) to keep their secrets secret. β€” Read the rest
